HOUSTON, Nov. 8, 2018  /PRNewswire/ — Sound Research Corporation today announced that they have been named a CES® 2019 Innovation Awards Honoree for their High Dynamic Range (HDR) gaming soundbar, designed in collaboration with HP’s OMEN gaming design team.  The announcement was made during CES Unveiled New York, an invitation-only tech event bringing together top media, exhibitors and industry leaders for a sneak peek of the products and trends expected at CES 2019, which will run January 8-11, 2019 in Las Vegas, NV.

An annual program that celebrates outstanding design, the CES Innovation Awards recognizes honorees across 28 product categories. A panel of judges, including designers, engineers and members of the tech media, reviews submissions based on design, functionality, consumer appeal, engineering and how the products compare with competition.

HDR soundbar with monitor showing race carsThe CES award-winning HDR soundbar produces a bass response as low as 38Hz, eliminating the need for an external sub-woofer. The HDR gaming soundbar features SoundEdge VRTTM (vibration reduction technology) that reduces speaker enclosure vibration, important when pairing the speaker with the OMEN X Emperium 65 display.

“Sound Research, working together with HPI, has created a CES award-winning gaming soundbar,” says Sound Research CEO Tom Paddock. “Our team designed a ground-breaking speaker that completely immerses the gamer in a massive, visceral sound field with minimal speaker vibration. Near-silent footsteps can now be heard alongside intense explosions. Seismic bass (LOFAR™ low frequency array) and distortion-limited loudness generates an accurate side to side soundstage, reproducing pinpoint gaming action and ensuring that the HDR soundbar delivers the ultimate gaming auditory experience.”

The CES Innovation Awards are sponsored by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA)™, owner and producer of CES, the world’s largest and most influential technology event. CTA has been recognizing achievements in product design and engineering since 1976.

The HDR gaming soundbar will be on display in the Innovation Awards Showcase at the upcoming CES 2019. The complete list of CES 2019 Innovation Honorees, including product descriptions and photos, can be found at CES.tech/Innovation.

Realtek Announces Collaboration with Sound Research Corporation on Realtek Intelligent Audio Amplifiers
and DSP Products

HSINCHU, Taiwan – January 06, 2015 – Realtek Semiconductor Corp. (Taiwan Stock Exchange: 2379.TW) is collaborating with Sound Research Corporation, a world leader in consumer product and PC sound modules and automated tuning solutions, to co-develop the industry‟s first self-tuning, high fidelity Intelligent Amplifier for embedded PC, cell phone and tablet audio chipsets.

Unlike traditional smart amplifiers, the Realtek Intelligent Amplifier is optimized for low voltage operation, yet still features impressive Sound Pressure Level (SPL) boost capability and optimized power utilization that delivers high fidelity audio performance that transcends existing audio solutions at only a fraction of the cost.

“For almost a decade, Realtek has had a long and close cooperation with Sound Research that until now was based on enabling their content enhancement package for the PC market”, said Realtek‟s Vice President and Spokesman, Yee-Wei Huang. “Now Realtek is delivering a fully-automated audio tuning engine for DSP-enabled chipsets, called „Sound Research Reality Amplifier®‟. In a matter of minutes, it is possible to create a high-fidelity PC, cell phone, or tablet sound field; a process that previously could take days, if not weeks. A next-generation, optimized version of Sound Research‟s one-button normalization engine was developed specifically for Realtek‟s Intelligent Amplifier technology, marking another important industry milestone arising from the long-standing relationship between Realtek and Sound Research”.

”These types of algorithms have never before been available and are breaking down previously insurmountable barriers across sound module technologies and ecosystems. Improvements span the gamut for chassis, amplifier, speaker and microphone innovation.” –Devon Worrell

SOUND RESEARCH UNVEILS REALITY AMPLIFIER® NORMALIZATION TECHNOLOGY SUPPORTING TRIGENCE DNOTE® DIGITAL SPEAKER MODULES

CES 2015, Las Vegas, Nevada (January 6, 2015) –Sound Research today released a fully automated normalization technology for Digital Speaker Modules (DSMs) combining Trigence Semiconductor’s patented Dnote® digitally-driven speaker technology with Sound Research Reality Amplifier. The combination yields ground-breaking DSMs, which provide consumer electronics OEMs, ODMs, and systems integrators with a viable product blueprint of a high performance digital audio solution for Ultra books, tablets, and smartphones.

“We worked closely with Sound Research and Intel Corporation on the audio design for our digital speaker module solutions and are very impressed at the audio quality we were able to achieve when incorporating Reality Amplifier. The DSM audio sound field has exceptional sonic detail with accurate audio reproduction. The Reality Amplifier ideally complements Trigence Semiconductor’s new D-Assist™ digital speaker enhancement technology, offering rich bass, dynamic impact and articulate vocals, creating a superlative audio experience.”- Pete Birch, Chief Marketing Officer, Trigence Semiconductor, Inc.

“Combined with the new audio transducer technologies, Sound Research can rapidly prototype and customize algorithms for challenging sound module designs, providing truly innovative and game changing improvements, not only for end users, but also for OEMs and ODMs. Everyone will truly enjoy the impressive fidelity and experience improvements that can now be achieved with less risk, effort and cost to system suppliers.” – Devon Worrell

Reality Amplifier adaptively reduces harmful resonance, extends frequency range and unifies transducers, amplifiers and enclosures, creating a coherent sound field that is lifelike and dynamic. Reality Amplifier technology, when combined with optimized components and proprietary industrial design methodologies, will restore audio, voice and speech to original performance quality. Reality Amplifier provides a fully compatible sonic foundation upon which content and product sound field mastering technologies can be deployed.

World’s First Digital Speaker Modules (DSMs) Significantly Reduce Active Power in Portable Devices

By combining Trigence Semiconductor’s patented Dnote® digital amplifier IC solutions with micro-speakers from AAC Technologies containing 6 voice-coils, in a thin tablet form-factor, the DSMs are able to achieve sound pressure levels (SPL) exceeding 87dB at typical listening positions. The DSM demonstration system was developed in conjunction with Intel Corporation, and incorporates [Reality Amplifier®] from Sound Research Corporation. Tom Paddock, renowned acoustic architect and CEO of Sound Research Corporation, the developer of [Reality Amplifier] Technology, commented, “We worked closely with Trigence, Intel and AAC on the acoustic design and tuning, and I’m very impressed at the audio quality we were able to achieve. Trigence’s all-digital amplifiers are incredibly power-efficient and can deliver a truly compelling audio experience. The DSMs are able to fit within most thin form-factor CE products, yet audio quality is uncompromised with rich bass, dynamic impact, articulated voice and full-range sound, equivalent to many Bluetooth speaker products.”

"[Sound Research] software is far and away the most exhaustive we’ve seen for onboard audio…This new audio technology... has the best audio quality this side of an Audigy 2 ZS. Relatively low CPU overhead and being embedded will ensure that many gamers will have no need to go purchase an additional sound card. Quite frankly, unless there are specific tools available on an add-in sound card you need, we really can’t see why anyone would go buy a sound card after hearing how good this one sounds."
